Hero Chess: Encyclopedia
This is an introduction post with a list of all the heroes from the game, including their species, class, and abilities. We'll be adding and updating this list periodically as we balance the units in-game. All units are currently sorted by their Class. For a list sorted by Species, check back soon.
We’ll also have a full spreadsheet with stat numbers (health, dps) coming soon!
Assassins give each other a 15% chance to deal deadly critical damage. Having 3 different assassins will allow them to deal critical hits for 300% damage. 6 assassins give 400% damage, and 9 give 500% damage.
Ability: Dashes in an icy flurry that damages all enemies he passes through.
Ability: Goliath lets out a fearsome roar, damaging all nearby enemies.
Ability: Lilith gains perfect evasion, becoming invincible for a short time and dealing bonus damage.
Ability: Throws a cursed blade at her enemies that ricochets between any hero nearby, dealing damage to all of them
Ability: Reaps the souls of her enemies, stealing their health. The effect chains up to 5 times
Ability: (Passive) Gains a bonus chance of delivering a devastating critical strike to enemy heroes.
Ability: (Passive) Burns an opponent's energy on each attack and deals 50% of the energy burned as damage to the target.
Guardians have deep connections with one another that allow them to power up more quickly. Having 2 different guardians will allow you to 2-star any of your guardians by using only two 1-star heroes instead of three. Having 4 different guardians will allow you to 3-star any of your guardians using only two 2-star heroes.
Ability: Aeria summons a reaver to fight for her.
Reaver Level: 1/2/3 Cooldown: 7
Ability: Summons a powerful Spirit Wolf that has the power to terrify and stunt its targets.
Spirit Wolf Level: 1/2/3
Ability: Calls upon the forest spirits that heal him over time.
Ability: Son chants a blessing, generating a healing aura for all allied units around him.
Hunters power up each other's base attack strength and accuracy. 3 different hunters will give all fellow hunters +30 base attack damage and +30% chance to pierce through evasion. 6 different hunters will give all fellow hunters an additional +40 base attack damage and +40% chance to pierce through evasion.
Ability: With his poisonous breath, Aegon slows the targeted enemy hero's attack speed while also dealing burn damage over time.
Attack Slow: 20%
Ability: Artemis charges her bow for 1 second for a powerful shot, damaging all enemies on its path.
Ability: Slams the ground in a flurry of blades, damaging and stunning all nearby enemies.
Stun Duration: 2/2.5/3
Ability: Fires a long-ranged arrow with deadly precision to an enemy chess, dealing random damage and stun to the target.
Min Stun: 1/1.5/2
Max Stun: 5/7.5/10
Min Dmg: 50/75/100
Max Dmg: 500/750/1000
Ability: Roars, creating a wave of static that deals ability damage and silences all enemy units in the area.
Ability: Ragvar sends his axe and dagger flying, slicing through enemy heroes along their path.
Ability: (Passive) Increased attack damage and speed
Knights are defensive units that can provide shields to each other and mitigate damage. With 2 different knights on the field, each has a 30% chance of gaining a 3 second shield. 4 different knights will grant an additional 30% chance, while 6 knights will grant another 30%. A knight can successfully gain more than one shield and the time the shields last will stack.
Ability: Summons a bolt of chaotic energy at the target hero, stunning for a random duration and dealing random damage.
Min Stun: 1
Max Stun: 2/3/4
Min Dmg: 50/100/150
Max Dmg: 200/300/400
Ability: Instantly heals a friendly hero with the lowest current health and damages all nearby enemies.
Ancient, Dragon, Knight
Ability: Reign summons a powerful elder dragon to ride upon. Each successive star level grants her dragon new abilities.
1-Star: Reign's dragon burns his enemies, dealing damage over time.
2-Star: Attacks deal splash damage to other enemy units in range and burns all targets it lands on.
3-Star: Reign's dragon's firey aura slows the movement and attack speed enemy heroes in range.
Ability: Grants an anti-death shield to the ally hero with the lowest health.
Ability: (Passive) Serra's glaives allow her attacks to bounce between enemy units, dealing less damage with each bounce.
Damage Per Bounce: 30%
Ability: Charges her attacks with rays of light, amplifying her own attacks and slowing nearby enemies
Mages are powerful wielders of magic that decrease opponents’ ability resistance. With 3 different mages on the field, all enemies’ ability resistance is reduced by 40%. With 6 different mages, they take an additional 40% reduction to their ability resistance.
Ability: Ariel raises her sword in a beam of light that blinds all enemy units looking towards her. Their movement and attack speed are slowed whenever they look at her, and if they stare for two seconds or more during her ult, they will be petrified and take additional damage from attacks.
Ult Duration: 4/5/6
Stun Duration: 2/2.5/3
Ability: Charms enemy heroes in front of her, placing them under mind control for a short duration and causing them to attack their own allies.
Elf, Dragon, Mage
Ability: Summons her familiar, a fierce fire dragon that deals devastating ability damage.
Dragon Lvl 1, 2, 3
Ability: Fires a beam of blazing fire, scorching all enemies in its path and dealing massive damage
Ability: Fires a ball of lightning that travels in a straight line, damaging all enemies in its path.
Ability: Releases a wave of lightning that zaps and damages all enemies it hits.
Ability: (Passive) Enables periodic passive energy regeneration for all ally heroes.
Energy Per Second: 4/7/10
Sorcerers are wielders of arcane magics that grant all their allies with lifesteal abilities. When 3 different sorcerers are on the field, all allies will have 20% lifesteal from their auto attacks. With 6 different sorcerers, this increases by an additional 30%.
Ability: Pulls the furthest enemy hero on the board over to Nephila, ensnaring them in a stun and dealing physical damage
Ability: Ragnarok burns the area around him, dealing massive damage to enemies nearby
Ability: Summons a swarm of fireling creatures to attack enemy units.
Ability: Steeps the area around him in a dark aura, dealing damage and poisoning all enemies that touch it
Ability: Launches a chain of lightning that bounces to nearby enemies, dealing damage and mini-stun
Ability: Covers the area around her in ice, damaging all enemy heroes in range based on their max HP.
Damage from Max HP: 20%/30%/40%
Warriors are fierce fighters that can form massive armies, granting each other powerful armor throughout the battle. 3 different warriors will give each friendly warrior +7 additional armor. 6 warriors will grant an additional +8 armor, and 9 will grant another +9 armor to friendly warriors.
Ability: Barbarus spins with his axes, creating an icy storm of destructive force and damaging nearby enemy heroes. Gains 100% magic resistance while spinning.
Ability: Inflicts a curse that silences an enemy hero, while taking damage over time.
Ability: Pounds the ground in a fearsome blow, damaging, stunning, and knocking back enemies in range.
Stun Duration: 1.5/2.0/2.5
Ability: Smashes his target with a critical strike so powerful it stuns and slows them after.
Crit Dmg: 300%/350%/400%
Slow Duration: 2
Mvt Slow: 40%
Ability: Fenris summons his fellow wolves to battle by his side.
Ability: Ghostblade calls forth her ghostly ship to crash upon her enemies on the chess board, damaging and stunning all enemies in its wreckage.
Stun Duration: 1.4/1.7/2.0
Ability: Slams her axe down on her target, stunning them and disabling their attacks and abilities.
Ability: (Passive) With each attack, Nexa grows in size and gains increased attack speed.
Ability: Gains bonus armor and taunts any nearby enemy heroes, forcing them to attack him.
Ability: Summons a shield around himself, giving him bonus armor for the duration.
